The sector in figures

According to Statistics Netherlands (CBS), the Netherlands had over 106,000 ICT companies in 2025. Within the ICT services sector, the number of companies rose from 93,495 in 2023 to 97,365 in 2024 and 100,200 in 2025.

According to Statistics Netherlands (CBS), there were 622,000 ICT professionals working in the Netherlands in 2024. The gross value added of the ICT sector grew by 3.2 per cent that year, and the value of production by 3.0 per cent.

Revenue from IT services rose by 4.7 per cent over the whole of 2025 and was 4.8 per cent higher in the first quarter of 2026 than a year earlier, according to Statistics Netherlands (CBS). The market is therefore growing steadily and without any sudden fluctuations.

What the CBS does not measure is precisely what determines your margin. There are no measured figures for billability or utilisation rates in this sector, no figures on the shift from hourly rates to fixed prices, and no sector-specific AI adoption figures. Growth figures therefore say nothing about whether your projects are profitable. That starts with your own cost analysis.
